About this course

This course and assessment package is designed for qualified MOT testers who want to add Class 3 vehicle testing to their existing skill set.

It covers the key knowledge and requirements specific to Class 3 testing, preparing you for both the assessment and the DVSA demonstration test.

All MITA courses and assessments are developed by professionals who have done the job — or are still doing it. That means the content reflects real-world testing, written in a way that makes sense to working testers, not academic theory.

The training is typically completed digitally at your own pace, but can also be delivered in a classroom environment with a MITA-approved regional training provider.

This qualification is designed for qualified MOT testers who wish to extend their scope of testing to include Class 3 vehicles. It combines both training and assessment into a single structured package, providing the knowledge and preparation required before undertaking the DVSA demonstration test.

The training element focuses on the specific requirements of Class 3 MOT testing, including key differences from other vehicle classes, relevant testing procedures, and common areas of non-compliance. The assessment confirms understanding of these requirements and readiness to progress.

Developed by experienced MOT professionals, the content reflects real-world testing environments and is designed to be practical, clear, and directly applicable. Successful completion of this qualification prepares learners for the DVSA demonstration test, which is required to gain authorisation to test Class 3 vehicles.
