This qualification is delivered via MITA-approved centres through structured classroom-based training, supported by practical instruction. Learners will undertake both theoretical and practical elements, ensuring they are fully prepared for the qualification assessment and subsequent DVSA demonstration test. Delivery is quality assured by MITA through its external quality assurance processes to ensure consistency and compliance.

Entry requirements
To enrol on this course, you must meet the following requirements:
- A minimum of 4 years' experience working in a garage
- A full UK driving licence for the vehicle classes you wish to test
- A Level 3 qualification recognised by DVSA, or equivalent experience in light vehicle or motorcycle inspection and repair
Successful completion of this qualification enables learners to progress to the DVSA VT8 demonstration test. Once both the qualification and the VT8 have been successfully completed, learners can apply to become authorised MOT testers for Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles and carry out MOT tests at an approved Vehicle Testing Station. Learners may also progress into further specialist or supervisory roles within the motorcycle or wider automotive sector.
