About this course

This is the mandatory annual assessment for MOT testers working on Class 4 and Class 7 vehicles.

It ensures testers remain up to date with current testing standards, procedures, and DVSA requirements. Completion of this assessment is required to maintain your MOT testing status.

All MITA courses and assessments are developed by professionals who have done the job — or are still doing it. That means the content reflects real-world testing, written in a way that makes sense to working testers, not academic theory.

The assessment is designed to be clear, practical, and accessible, and can be completed either online or in a classroom environment with your approved regional training provider.

This qualification is designed to support the ongoing competence of MOT testers carrying out testing on Class 4 and Class 7 vehicles. It forms part of the annual assessment requirements set within the MOT scheme, ensuring that testers remain current with regulatory expectations and industry standards.

The assessment focuses on reinforcing up-to-date knowledge of MOT testing procedures, legislative updates, and best practice, helping to ensure that testing activities are carried out consistently, safely, and in line with DVSA expectations. It provides assurance to employers, regulators, and the public that certified testers continue to meet the required standard.

Completion of this assessment is required to maintain MOT tester status for Classes 4 and 7, providing assurance that testers continue to meet the expected standards set by the DVSA.
